Description
The Slope Lot Contemporary turns a difficult building site into a dramatic living experience. Designed for lots with 15–30% grade, the home steps down the hillside in three levels connected by a sculptural steel staircase. Entry level: a dramatic double-height foyer, home office, and guest suite. The mid-level — the heart of the home — houses the open kitchen, dining, and great room. This level cantilevers over the slope, creating a covered patio below and framing panoramic views through a 24-foot glass wall. The lower level contains the primary suite, two additional bedrooms, and a family/media room that opens to the garden level. The two-car garage is tucked into the hillside at street level. Key features: cantilevered steel-frame construction, board-formed concrete retaining walls, green roof sections for stormwater management, automated exterior shading, and pre-wired for whole-house audio and smart home systems. This is a premium plan for clients who have a challenging lot and want an architect-designed response that embraces — rather than fights — the terrain. Previously built in the West Hills of Portland and Marin County, CA.
